Inserting Images

Images can be edited inside of CMS. The Cascade Image editor allows for resize, rotate, flip and cropping of images. See Built-In Image Editor in Advanced Techniques.

Instructions & Tips

Images, should be no larger than 520 pixels wide. For the best quality use JPEG format for photographs; GIF and PNG for other graphics.

Insert an image

Place the cursor where you would like the image to appear.
Click Insert/Edit Image. The Insert/Edit Image window will appear.

Insert image browser

Internal Images

  • Click the Browse icon.
  • Navigate to the image.
  • Click the Upload button

If the Image needs to UploadedUploading image browser

  • Navigate to where the image is to be stored.
    Most sites should contain an "images" folder.
  • Select Upload under the Choose tab
  • Click the Browse button
  • Locate the image, select it
  • Click the Upload button

External image browser

External Images

  • On the pop-up window, next to the word "Image," type (or paste) the web address for the image.
  • Use Advanced options for image placement. 
  • Click the Insert button

Alternate Text: Use descriptive text for both Internal and external images that are important. (e.g., Computing Services Home).  Be clear in the explanation of the image. Example, student using a laptop.

Instructions & Tips

This is also necessary for screen readers used by the visually impaired. It is recommended that you spell check it, before the copy and paste it into the "Alternate Text" box.

For images that are decorative (lines, etc.), Alternate Text is not added. Check the box "This is a decorative image".

Width/Height: Do not enter values for Width/Height these are determined by the system and will appear when image is uploaded to the CMS.
