Non-Band Teachers Teaching Band - Tony Susi - Educator, Clinician & Composer  8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Are you a non-band teacher who has been asked to teach winds, brass and/or percussion? If so, Tony Susi will be presenting a number of instructional strategies to assist you. As a bonus, Tony will also be sharing some of his most recent compositions for band and orchestra. Sponsored by ASBDA.

Non-String Teachers Teaching Strings – TBD  12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

If you are a non-string teacher who teaches or will be teaching strings, this workshop sponsored by CT ASTA will provide you with answers to the pedagogical questions your may have.

Music Technology in the Classroom - Wayne Splettstoeszer -Torrington High School, State Chair ASBDA 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Designed for teachers who are offering or will be integrating music technology into their music classroom. Wayne is an in-demand technology educator who will be sharing lesson ideas and innovative technology software for elementary and secondary music classrooms. Sponsored by Music First.

Global & Creative Music in the Classroom - Magdalena O’Brien - Rocky Hill Public Schools & Dan O‘Brien - East Hartford Public Schools  12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Open to all who would like to integrate multi-cultural lessons and creative components into their classrooms. Magdalena and Dan will share various teaching techniques and designs for success in the music classroom. Sponsored by CTASOA.

• Music Teacher Workshop course tuition is charged at a rate of $275.00 per credit.

The Master of Music Education (M.M.Ed.) degree program is intended for new and experienced music teachers who seek advanced study in music curriculum and instruction. Applicants for this degree will have completed a bachelor’s degree in music education at an accredited institution and will have obtained their teacher certification. Part-time and summers-only programs of study are available for teachers who hold full-time teaching positions (Hartt Summerterm). The Music Education department strongly urges applicants to complete one year of experience in the field before beginning an M.M.Ed. degree.

STEP 1: SUBMIT YOUR $50 SUMMER HOUSING APPLICATION FEE

The $50 summer housing application fee is required to live in on-campus housing when participating in one or more Hartt Summertermcourse(s). This fee is non-refundable and provides students access to the summer housing application. It is payable through CASHNET or in person at the Center for Student Success (CSS). 

This fee will post to your account 48 hours after payment. For example, if you pay the housing application fee on a Monday, the housing application will become available to you by Wednesday.

STEP 2: COMPLETE YOUR HOUSING APPLICATION

Once your application fee has been processed, the housing application will be available through your Self-Service account. You must complete this application to live on-campus and participate in room selection.

You will need to:

1. Log in to Self-Service
2. Go to the Student tab
3. Select “Residential Life"
4. Log in with your University of Hartford email credentials
5. Select “Housing Application”
6. Select Summer 2024
7. Complete and submit the Summer 2024 application
8. If you have any issues logging into the Self-Service Center, please contact the Center for Student Success at 860.768.4999 or css@hartford.edu.

Please note you must meet the following requirements to be eligible to apply for summer housing:

• University of Hartford student who is enrolled in one or more Hartt Summerterm 1, 3, 4, 5, Hartt Core and/or Hartt 2 Week course(s).
• Spring term charges must be paid in full, or special arrangements made with the Bursar Office, by June 1.
• Students living on-campus for Summer I must be a Spring 2024 residential student.
• Students living on-campus for Summer II or Entire Summer must also be registered to live on-campus for the 2024-25 academic year, beginning Fall 2024.

Special circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

Students who have an unpaid balance from Spring 2024 or previous terms, are not registered one or more Hartt Summerterm courses, or do not meet any of the aforementioned housing requirements will be ineligible for and may be removed from summer housing.

Here are some important guidelines that will be in effect:

• Students applying for summer housing by May 1 will be billed as part of the June billing cycle. Students applying for housing after May 1 will be billed as part of the next billing cycle.
• All University of Hartford and Office of Residential Life Rules and Regulations remain in effect during break periods—including the Visitor Policy. Any student violating any policy may be asked to leave campus immediately and is subject to further conduct action.
• Access to spaces, offices, and services may be limited or unavailable at times during the summer. For more information regarding a specific office's availability, please visit their website or contact them directly for more information. Please plan accordingly and in advance.
• Please be advised Facilities may find it necessary to enter rooms to complete routine maintenance, make repairs or updates, and to clean. 
• There will be a limited number of Residential Life student leaders and staff present on campus. Public Safety will remain open.

Students requesting summer housing will be assigned a space in the Village Apartments, as space allows. Single-occupancy rooms are limited.

Summer housing rates vary based on room type.

Hartt Summerterm students are responsible for their own linens, kitchen, and bathroom supplies. 

Hartt Summerterm students living in the Village Apartments are permitted to bring and use standing air conditioning units that meet the requirements outlined in The Source.

Summer housing assignments will be available in the housing portal. Please note that some summer housing assignments may not be available until check-in to best meet student requests.
