1970–1979

1972: MICHAEL CRYSTAL

Michael Crystal (A&S) of Wilton, Conn., received the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his career longevity and excellence in the field of human resources and organizational development.

1979: KATE MCGOVERN

A Public Sector Journey to Lean: Fighting Muda in Times of Muri is a new book authored by Kate McGovern (M Barney) of Providence, R.I. The book describes how Lean process improvement techniques and principles that have reduced waste and enhanced quality in manufacturing can be applied to public administration.  

1980–1989

1988: MATTHEW SHEEHY

After a career working in some of the most prominent libraries in the world, including Harvard Library and the New York Public Library, Matthew Sheehy (Hartt) of Ashland, Mass., is now the Brandeis National Committee University Librarian at Brandeis University. 

1989: JOHN HOULIHAN

John Houlihan (A&S) of Studio City, Calif., is senior vice-president at Fox Music in Los Angeles. He oversees the score and source music for many films as well as in-house music supervision and soundtrack production/music marketing. Houlihan recently worked on the music for the Oscar-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody.

1990–1999

1990: MICHAEL MONGILLO

Filmmaker Michael Mongillo (HAS) of Meriden, Conn., had his most recent release, Diane, a feature-length supernatural mystery, enjoy a limited theatrical run in September 2018. It remains in worldwide release and is available on many streaming platforms. It was nominated for a 2018 Rondo Hattan Classic Horror Award for best independent film.

Joe Fiochetta (Hartt) of State College, Pa., was named vice president of university advancement at Lock Haven University (LHU) in Pennsylvania. He came to LHU as principal of his own firm. Fiochetta has more than 25 years of service to the non-profit and higher education community as an executive, consultant, and volunteer. 

 


1992: SIDNEY A. MURRAY

Sidney A. Murray (A'89 Hillyer), (A&S) of New Bedford, Mass., graduated from the Reserve Basic Academy in Massachusetts. Also a graduate of the Massachusetts School of Law, he is with the litigation unit of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

1993: PETER BOYER

The Ellis Island Honors Society (EIHS) will give composer Peter Boyer (M Hartt), (D'95 Hartt) of Altadena, Calif., a 2019 Ellis Island Medal of Honor in May. The medals are presented annually to a select group whose accomplishments in their field and inspired service to the nation are cause for celebration. EIHS cited his work Ellis Island: The Dream of America.

1997: VICTORIA HANKS

Two works by painter Victoria Hanks (M HAS) of Glen Ridge, N.J., were displayed in the “New Directions in Fiber Art” exhibit at the Montclair Museum of Art in New Jersey. Hanks uses underwear and brassieres which she sews together, stuffs, coats with gesso, and paints. She calls these doll-like objects "Hankafers."

1999: ERICA SCHULTZ

Erica Schultz (A&S) of Edison, N.J. continues a successful career as a comic book writer, editor, and publisher. She has provided content for Dynamite Comics, Marvel, and DC Comics, among many others. Schultz was co-creator of the crimes series M3, the winner of the Best Comic Book award at the 2012 Burbank International Film Festival.  

2000–2009

2000: MARIN IRELAND

Marin Ireland (Hartt) of New York, N.Y., will star with Susan Sarandon in Happy Talk, a new play by Jesse Eisenberg at the New Group. She will play Serbian immigrant Ljuba, a home aide to Sarandon’s character Lorraine. The play began previews in April and will run through June 2 at the Pershing Square Signature Center.

MedTech Association, a membership-based trade association for the bioscience and medical technology industry in New York State, has appointed Jeffrey Champagne (HAS), (M'06 Barney) of Acton, Mass., as vice chair of its board of directors. He is the director of business development at MPR Associates. 

2000: CHRISTOPHER DAVIS

Christopher Davis (Barney) of Van Nuys, Calif., is vice-president for television at Echo Lake Entertainment. The company recently sold a show to Hulu about Catherine the Great. A full season has been ordered by Hulu and the show will star actress Elle Fanning, whom they manage.

2003: MIKE FELDMAN

Mike Feldman (Hartt) of Los Angeles, Calif., is the owner of Studio43, a recording studio in Los Angeles. He also plays keyboards in his wife’s band, the Evangenitals. The band was featured on a cruise for Melissa Etheredge fans where they performed along with the artist.

2005: KYLE RODRI

Kyle Rodri (Hartt) of West Hollywood, Calif., is the creative advertising director at The Walt Disney Studios. He is responsible for development, creation, and execution of creative A/V marketing materials for theatrically released live-action Disney films & Disney+ Originals. Rodri has been with The Walt Disney Studios since December 2009.

Ghosts.jpg2007: SHANTA LEE GANDER

Shanta Lee Gander (M Barney) of Brattleboro, Vt., has written a book titled Ghosts of Cuba in Black and White: An American Interracial Couple’s Exploration of Cuba in the Age of Trump. It is a personal story co-authored with MacLean Gander. Shanta is an artist and multi-faceted professional in leadership, marketing, management, and event planning.

2008: LUIS ANGULO

Street artist Luis Angulo (M HAS) of Austin, Texas won first prize at the Second Annual Graffiti Art Festival held in March in Fort Worth, Texas. Each artist created a billboard-sized art piece with an inspirational family-friendly theme. Angulo won the top prize for his mural Fierce, which embodied female beauty and power.

Jaret von Rosenberg (Barney) of Commerce, Texas, led his Texas A&M-Commerce men’s basketball team to the NCAA Division II Regional semi-finals for the second consecutive year. It was the program's first NCAA tournament appearances since 2005. The former UHart star and assistant coach has compiled a 46-18 record in his two seasons as head coach at Texas A&M-Commerce.  

2010–2019

O'Neill and Associates, which handles crisis communications and government and federal public relations, announced the appointment of Daniel Arsenault (A&S) of Hartford, Conn., as senior director of its Hartford practice. Previously, he was program manager and public information officer for the Connecticut Department of Housing.  

 

 
2014: KALENA BOVELL

Praised for her “brilliant conducting skills” by the Chicago Tribune, Kalena Bovell (M Hartt), (GPD'15 Hartt) of Hartford, Conn., was named music director of the Civic Orchestra of New Haven in Connecticut beginning with the 2018–2019 season. She has held conducting fellowships with the Allentown Symphony and the Chicago Sinfonietta.

2016: KEVIN WINDHEUSER

Kevin Windheuser (CETA) of Hopkinton, Mass., and Julia Piri '17 (Barney) of Woodmere, N.Y., have started a reusable straw company called UseMe Life. The company’s mission is, in part, to provide sustainable and alternative products that will protect our oceans and enrich customer lives. The straws and related products are available at usemelife.com.

2018: CATHERINE GLEASON

Catherine Gleason (A&S)of West Suffield, Conn., is teaching English in South Korea at an all-boys middle school. She is chronicling the experience on her blog, catherineinkorea.home.

kimora.jpg2018: KIMORA LEE SIMMONS

Kimora Lee Simmons (University Studies) of Beverly Hills, Calif., announced the re-acquisition and re-launch of Baby Phat, a line of iconic urbanwear. It had originally launched in 1998 as a spin-off of menswear brand Phat Farm. She made the announcement while giving a keynote address at a gathering for the Gender Innovation Coalition for Change (GICC).

John Jaramillo M'09 (A&S), M'15 (Barney) and his wife, Jennifer, of Plainville, Conn., welcomed their second son, Jonah Alvaro Jaramillo, on March 2 , 2019. John is a leadership coach and development consultant.
