Two Entrepreneur Awards for the Barney School of Business

At the 2017 CT Entrepreneur Awards, the Women’s Business Center, part of the Entrepreneurial Center, and the Upper Albany Main Street organization, both part of the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business, received honorable mention in the Program Category.  The Entrepreneurial Center and Upper Albany Main Street support the Barney School’s community outreach and service learning initiatives focused on small businesses in and around the Hartford area.

The CT Entrepreneur Awards identify, recognize, and celebrate Connecticut’s leading entrepreneurs, ventures, and ecosystem elements that support them.

The Women’s Business Center (WBC) is the largest initiative at the Barney School’s Entrepreneurial Center. The WBC specializes in training that is focused on the learning styles, qualities, and particular needs that women bring to business. The Women’s Business Roundtable, the specific program that was an honorable mention at the CT Entrepreneur Awards, is a combination of hands-on learning, networking, and peer-to-peer mentoring, that  brings together groups of 8-12 selected women business owners, committed to advancing their skills and growing their business. Get involved with WBC.

Upper Albany Main Street (UAMS) was established in 2000 as an economic development, community revitalization organization and is now part of the Barney School of Business. UAMS is dedicated to developing Upper Albany into a destination that attracts people who may not otherwise visit the community. Each year students gain valuable entrepreneurial experience assisting small businesses through supervised micro business incubator consulting projects. Learn more about UAMS.
