Partners “Crush” Barney School Spring Lift Off

Each semester at the Barney School of Business starts with “Lift Off” sessions.  These sessions lay out our career preparation goals and activities for the semester.  They are tailored to the specific professional development needs of students as they progress through their University experience.

This semester, all classes at the Barney School came together for Spring 2017 Lift Off.  The theme “Crushing That Interview” fit well for all students, whether they are pursuing internships, co-ops, or full-time jobs after graduation.

A panel of Human Resource Managers took time out of their busy schedules to speak with our students, and help break down the “dos and don’ts” of interviewing. Guest speakers were Marika Rouette from Blum Shapiro, Deb Troiano from Pratt and Whitney, Marco Costantini from Stanley Black & Decker, and Mark Turek from The Hartford. These HR leaders regularly recruit college talent for their growing organizations.  They were able to answer students’ questions, which were streaming live on stage, and share advice on how to impress employers and land great positions.

Each student was given an “Interview Survival Kit” consisting of thank you cards, mints, a lint roller, and other items. After the panel, students were able to connect with our speakers, faculty, and staff during a networking lunch.

Lift Offs are just one way the Barney School helps students become competent, confident, and connected.  Learn more about Lift Offs and other Barney School Career Ready programming on our website.
