Spain Study Abroad

Barney School of Business student Lauren Bossi and 8 other students, along with two faculty members, traveled to Spain during spring break to study social entrepreneurship

Led by Barney School management professors Daphne Berry and John Ogilvie, the group toured the Guggenheim in Bilbao, visited the PepsiCo plant, and met with many different industry specialists relating to social entrepreneurship. During their free time, the students climbed cliffs above the shore, wandered in and out of shops, and even took a trip acrss the border to France.

Bossi, a junior studying marketing, was impressed with the experience. “It was amazing to have the opportunity to take what we learned in class and apply it to a real life experience. It's one thing to read about Spain's worker cooperatives, but to have the opportunity to immerse fully in the culture is a whole other experience - one I won't soon forget,” she said.

“Being my first time abroad, Spain was truly an unforgettable experience. From the picturesque views to the in-depth company tours, the trip was an all-encompassing good time.  The professors did a great job organizing everything.  We even got to meet faculty at Spanish business schools," Bossi said. "I strongly recommend this program to anyone who has the opportunity to attend.”

Two undergraduate students took pictures and blogged about their experiences throughout the week. The blog can be read here.
