The Alpha Omicron Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma at the University of Hartford was granted its Charter by the Grand Chapter on February 5, 1999.

Gamma Iota Sigma Mission Statement:
“The purpose of this fraternity is to promote, encourage, and sustain student interest in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science as professions; to encourage the high moral and scholastic attainments of its members; and to facilitate interaction of educational institutions and industry through networking and by fostering research activities, scholarship, and improved public relations.”

Purpose of Alpha Omicron Chapter:
 At the University of Hartford, our purpose is to become the organization of choice for students interested in risk management, insurance, and actuarial science while furthering member’s personal development through guest speakers, civic involvement, and networking opportunities with the greater Hartford business community with the primary end result of career placement in any of the above fields.

Vision of Alpha Omicron Chapter:
We aim to achieve this by developing personal ties within the greater Hartford insurance community through active engagement of our internal and external stakeholders from within the Barney School of Business and the community at large; by working endlessly to constantly provide our members with the best possible risk management related organization; exemplify the core values of the Barney School of Business through leading by example and working to actively enhance the school’s career ready focus.

Open to all Undergrad majors of the University of Hartford and all Barney School of Business Graduate students.
