Biography

Hassan S. Salehi received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut (UConn), and his entire Ph.D. was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Salehi is currently a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, Connecticut.  He is the recipient of several research and teaching awards, including 2016-2017 Professor of the Year Award from the University of Hartford CETA and two Predoctoral Research Fellowship Awards from UConn.

Dr. Salehi has published over 15 peer-reviewed journal and conference articles in the field, and has given talks at several international conferences. One of his research papers was featured on the cover of the Journal of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology. He is a peer reviewer for Nature Scientific Reports, Journal of Applied Optics, Journal of Biomedical Optics, and Journal of Biomedical Optics Express.

His research interests include signal/image processing, machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision and the development of novel optical imaging/sensing systems for medical and robotics applications. Dr. Salehi is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Optical Society of America (OSA), and International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). He has organized several regional conferences and topical meetings in his area of expertise.
