Designing Standalone Microgrid and Grid-Connected Smartgrid Hybrid Solar/Wind Energy Systems

This published paper about a hybrid renewable energy system was written in the PV and Wind Energy Systems course (ECE-575) during the summer of 2016.  The paper was then presented at the 5th IAJC/ISAM Joint International Conference on Monday November 7, 2016, in Orlando, Florida.  The paper was then approved to be published in the Fall/Winter 2016 edition of the IJERI Engineering Journal which is an official journal of the IAJC conference.  Special thanks go to Dr. Akram Abu-aisheh for sharing the opportunity and assisting with the application process for the conference and the journal.  Special thanks also go to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering for supporting the opportunity. Read the publication here.

Promoting Critical Thinking Through Troubleshooting Exercises in Fundamental Electric Circuits Labs

This paper was presented at the 2018 ASEE conference in Salt Lake City, Utah on Wednesday June 27, 2018.  The main topic of the paper is the implementation of critical thinking assignments in the electrical engineering laboratories.  This paper entails information about troubleshooting experiments that were performed by the students in pursuit of obtaining critical thinking skills as well as surveys submitted by the students conveying their experiences during the program.  This strategy was exercised in the following courses:  ECT-111, ECT-121, ECE-215, ECE-216.  Additional authors: Ying Yu, Patricia Mellodge, and Joseph Delvicario. Read the publication here.
