Teaching Focus: Assistant Professor Nicole Foti teaches undergraduate and graduate courses based in the practical application of educational theory in the field. Through her teaching, Foti helps her students develop strong, resilient backgrounds and equity-based contexts for applying their knowledge. She builds flexible classroom environments that respond to her individual students' learning needs. Foti readies her students to translate their theoretical knowledge and experiences into real-world, community-based application.

Professional Interests: Foti's work examines how programmatic structures, policies, and practices, and alignments produce effective student learning outcomes. Program development includes looking at big-picture systems, but necessarily involve deconstructing component parts to determine best practices. Influential factors to be considered and integrated are working with community and partnership building; faculty, Supervisor, and Cooperating Teacher development; program alignment; and building strong connections between coursework with field work. The success of these efforts is measured by pre-service teachers' holistic readiness to enter the field as impactful practitioners.
