Dr. Gorack has been teaching at the University of Hartford for 10 years. He has a clinical expertise in Geriatric and Acute Physical Therapy with extensive experience in a sub-acute rehabilitation setting working with a patient population with complex neurological, cardiorespiratory and orthopedic conditions. He is the primary instructor in the Business of Healthcare, Gerontology, Diagnosis and Intervention for Older Adults, the Scientific Inquiry Series, and Foundations of Professional Practice. He has also assisted in Gross Anatomy Lab. He is an ABPTS Board Certified Geriatric Specialist and an APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor and has served as mentor and clinical instructor for over 15 years for several physical therapy programs. He has developed his business leadership skills with roles that have included Director of Rehabilitation, Director of Clinical Education and Career Advancement, and founding Director of a Geriatric Residency Program.
Interest Areas
His scholarly interest and published works involve rehabilitation and gait speed in the sub-acute setting. More recently, he has devoted his research agenda to the development of a clinical assessment tool for functional mobility and fall risk in the older adult. He is currently investigating the relationship between grip strength and fall risk in the older adult.
