Tracey's performing career includes two National B’way Tours: Camelot with Richard Harris, and the role of Emma Goldman in Ragtime. She has appeared Off-Broadway in Señor Discretion by Frank Loesser, I Will Come Back (with music by Timothy Gray), and in the title role in Blitzstein’s Regina, at the York. 
Tracey is known for her work with new musicals.  She created the role of Mary Magdalene in the Pre-Broadway workshop of Kevorkian Café, and workshopped the role of Red for The People in the Picture, which opened on Broadway in 2011.  She has developed roles at the BMI Musical Theatre workshop, the ASCAP Music Theatre Workshop, and the NYU Musical Theatre Writing program.  She has been selected three times as a performer for the prestigious Composer/Librettist Studio at New Dramatists.  A CD featuring music by up-and-coming musical theatre writers, entitled “Workshop, Volume I,” is available on the Original Cast Records label.

Leading roles at regional theatres across the country include Gypsy's Mama Rose at the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Mrs. Joe in a premiere of Great Expectations  at Hilton Head Playhouse, Lee in Marvin's Room at Mountain Playhouse in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd in Indiana, Naomi in A Bad Friend at Miami's Gablestage, Golde in Fiddler in Illinois, the Earth Mother in Menopause the Musical in South Florida, and many others. Concert appearances include solo performances with Orchestra Kentucky, The West Hartford Symphony, and the Bowling Green Symphony Orchestra.  She has sung classically at the Met, at New Jersey State Opera, and at Alice Tully Hall in New York.
Tracey's book, Acting the Song, is now in its second edition, and a new Student Companion to Acting the Song is now available.  Articles and essays she has written have appeared in The New York Times, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Studies in Music Theatre, Dramatics magazine, Methods Journal of Acting Pedagogy, Teaching Artist Journal, and Teaching Theatre journal.  She is the editor-in-chief of the Music Theatre Educators' Alliance (MTEA) Journal.
Tracey holds an M.F.A. in Acting from Brooklyn College, an M.A. in Dramatic Literature from Southern Illinois University and a B.M. in Voice from Indiana University.   She is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association.
