David Watson earned a bachelor's degree in theatre from the University of Delaware. He continued his studies at Wesleyan University, then at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he earned a master's degree in directing. He has taught theatre, mask design, and diction at The Hartt School, Trinity College, New England Actor's Theater, The Drama Studio, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Connecticut Shakespeare Festival, New World Theatre, Hartford Stage, Hartford Children's Theatre, and Capital Classics Shakespeare Festival. He has directed Suburbia by Eric Bogosian, Season by Melanie Marnich, American Buffalo by David Mamet, Tuna and Jack by Rob Lawrence, GlenGarry Glen Ross by David Mamet, Wash Out by Heidi Arbitter, and The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky.
Watson has done mask design and construction for Canterbury Tales at The Drama Studio, The Yeats Project at Trinity College, Comedy of Errors for the Connecticut Shakespeare Festival, The Madness of Isabelle at Capital Classics, Dracula for Daedalus Company, and The Dentist and The Pedant for Zanni Street Theatre.
