Pat Morelli, Director, has been involved in writing center work for 20 years, 7 of them here at the University of Hartford. Pat’s credentials are in English, Composition, and Secondary Education. Pat's other academic interests are poetry; history; women's studies; music, film and other mass media. She is a published poet, and she loves baking, cooking, and hanging out with her two grandsons. Pat joined the University's RLC Department in fall 1997, and she became a FIG member in fall 1998. Her RLC 110 course is paired with Psychology 101, and the two courses focus on Moral Development Theory, Identity Formation, and Civic Responsibility. In RLC 111, Pat's students explore freedom of expression and censorship in landmark court cases, contemporary music and the news media (with a focused investigation of Megan's Law). Pat serves on the executive steering committee of the Northeast Writing Centers Association, a coalition of writing centers. She has presented at NEWCA's annual conferences, CCELT (Connecticut Consortium on Excellence in Learning and Teaching), the annual convention of CCCC (The College Composition and Communication Conference), and the University of New Hampshire's Composition Conference.
