2016 Connecticut STEM Conference

Educators from across the region converged at the Connecticut Science Center for a day of exploration, discussion, and learning at the fifth annual Connecticut STEM Conference. The day provided a forum for regional educators to engage in discussions and further their skills surrounding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Welcome address by Dianna Wentzell, Connecticut Commissioner of Education. Wentzell told participants “The State Board of Education will take the necessary steps to support expansion of access to high-quality math and STEM programming for all students.”
  • “The State of STEM Education” keynote panel followed moderated by Meteorologist Mark Dixon. Panelists included:
  • Keynote Speaker Joanne Berger-Sweeney, President of Trinity College and a Professor of Neuroscience. Sweeney emphasized the importance of a STEM Education. “So many of the complex questions in the 21st century require knowledge of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields,” she said.
