Internships provide HAS students an opportunity to experience various jobs in the art field. Meet some of our interns below.

Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art - Education Intern

Katelyn Martinez

I am an Education Resource Intern working under Lindsey Fyfe (School & Teacher Program Manager) helping her organize and plan programs that are offered to schools all over Connecticut. The main programs I have been helping her out with are “Museum on the Move” and “Art & Writing” both of these programs are targeted to grades 3-5. These programs connect art and literacy through specific exercises given to students. Each program provides students with a workbook that challenges them with new vocabulary, comprehension, and comparing & contrasting, employing artwork that we have at the museum. This allows students to learn about the art in and out of the classroom as each program allows students and teachers to come to take a field trips and visits the museum for free. Lindsey also has programs that are sent out to K-12 grade that I have not yet experienced. This is an amazing opportunity for me to see the lesson plans the Wadsworth education department give to the teachers to follow while they partake in our programs. A lot is offered to the public with amazing educational opportunities for all ages.
