Performance Opportunities

The Hartt School Community Division Dance Department offers several performance opportunities throughout the year, including The Nutcracker in December, HarttWorks in March, and the Spring Festival in June.

The Nutcracker

Tchaikovsky’s glorious score provides the backdrop for this full-length, family-friendly annual holiday production. Performances are held in the newly renovated Alfred C. Fuller Music Center’s Millard Auditorium at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford.

In addition to the full-length ballet, HCD students perform in mini-Nutcracker performances. These include performances for local public schools through Hartford Performs, at local senior centers, and at local events such as Simsbury Celebrates.

Harttworks

Every spring, the Hartt School Community Division (HCD) presents HarttWorks, a multi-genre music and dance performance at the University of Hartford's Millard Auditorium, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. HarttWorks brings together HCD's most accomplished musicians and dancers in an evening of true collaboration. Through this performance, our students demonstrate the true culmination of an HCD education.

Spring Festival

Spring Festival is a unique performance including all HCD dancers.

Spring Festival celebrates the work of the HCD Dance Department, showcasing the students in a variety of styles. Performances take place in Millard Auditorium and are open to the public.

Repertory Ensemble

Repertory Ensemble is offered to HCD’s Division III Level 5 and Level 6 students. In this class, students learn various repertoire and variations in which they perform in the Nutcracker, HarttWorks, and Spring Festival. Repertory Ensemble students also get the opportunity to represent the school at dance competitions such as Youth America Grand Prix and Connecticut Classic.

Together, we can ensure the gift of an unparalleled performing arts education is available to all.
