Connecticut Youth Symphony (CYS) challenges motivated high-school musicians in grades 10–12 with the detailed preparation and performance of symphonic masterworks, concerti, and contemporary works. Each year CYS performs three major concerts and hosts a concerto competition for Community Division students.

Immersed in a history of excellence, CYS has been providing students an opportunity to study orchestral music intensively for almost 75 years. The Hartt School Training Orchestra was founded in 1938 by Rubin Segal and held its first concert in May 1939. Today, Connecticut Youth Symphony retains its focus: to provide students with a high-quality orchestral experience. Conducted by Dan D'Addio.
