August 3–7 and 10–14
Update! One session for both new and returning students.

This remote two-week intensive is designed for students in grades 7–12 who are passionate about writing music. Learn composition techniques, approaches to scoring films, and the use of relevant software while actively developing scores for film, TV, and/or video game scenes. Due to COVID-19, this program will take place in a remote setting. Students will take both synchronous and asynchronous courses over the two-weeks to limit daily screen time and allow for deeper independent study.

Returning Students: Enroll in either the full two-week program or join us only for the master classes and guest artists at a reduced tuition.

There are a limited number of laptops available for use during this program.

We encourage you to contact our administrative team with questions by e-mailing harttcomm@hartford.edu or calling 860-768-4451.

COVID-19 Summer Program Update

The University of Hartford has been continually monitoring the course of COVID-19 and how it will impact summer coursework and programming on the University campus. Our musical theatre program requires distinctive advanced preparation as each year we build a new show to meet your individual talents and areas for continued growth. This preparation translates into your pre-program study, our in-person class interactions, and culminates in an audience gathering and sharing out of our work. In this unprecedented time, weighing the numerous factors of this program, we are choosing safety and are very sorry to report that we have decided to cancel Summer Musical Theater Intensive for summer 2020.

It is our intention to recreate the programming we had planned for this summer in 2021, with new repertoire, similar class offerings and the same faculty. We hope that you will consider applying for our program next summer, when we can safely and confidently bring you the high-quality offerings we are known for.
