The Chinese Music Tradition

Explore Chinese culture by delving into The Chinese Music Tradition. Through this musical experience, students have the opportunity to engage with a new music system, immerse themselves in distinctive musical style, learn and explore traditional Chinese instruments, and experience rich Chinese musical traditions.

The Chinese Music Ensemble is made up of students who have previously taken the Explorations course and have familiarized themselves with the instruments. CME performs both traditional and contemporary pieces.

Ages: 
For students in grades 3–12.
Requirements: An audition is required for this ensemble.
Rehearsal Time: Thursdays, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
First Rehearsal: Thursday, September 14
Location: GHAA (Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts) 15 Vernon St., Hartford

Tuition: $432 for private lessons or group class students, $675 for all others

Private lessons in dizi are available with Gonzalo Cortes, in ruan with Luke Nelson, and in pipa, hulusi, erhu, and guzheng with Esther Shuyue Cao.
