Movement Based Active Learning through Orff Schulwerk: A Process Developed by Phyllis Weikart

This one week intensive class will introduce and immerse participants in a process developed by Phyllis Weikart. The process addresses all learners in a teaching model that separates, simplifies and facilitates ownership of musical concepts in an active learning environment. Participants will explore, create, and improvise using the basic elements of beat, rhythm, melody, form and improvisation through the unity of movement, dance, and speech. Throughout the week, participants will experience xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, drums, and un-pitched hand percussion. This intensive class will add innovation to your teaching and is open to anyone with or without Orff Schulwerk levels. For those without Orff Schulwerk experience, this will serve as an Introduction to Orff Schulwerk.
