Adult Ballet

Ballet is a classical dance form that uses formal poses and steps to emphasize grace, poise, and precision. As a ballet student, you will learn the vocabulary of ballet and improve your

All classes follow the basic format of barre work, center work, and allegro. Whether you are a beginner, a consistent student of ballet, or one who has had some time away but would like to return, you will find the right class for you.

General Information

What to wear

  • Females: Solid-colored leotard and ballet slippers.
  • Males: Leotard/t-shirt, ballet slippers, dance supporter.
  • Spandex yoga pants and close-fitting tops are also acceptable.

Tuition rates for beginner, elementary, intermediate, and advanced classes can be found in the charts below. Elementary through advanced students who begin in September will register for the full 35 weeks. Tuition is prorated for students who start after September.

  • Ten-class cards are available for $150. The ten-class card allows you to drop in to your chosen class throughout the academic year (Sept.–June). Ten-class dance cards are not transferable between classes and are not available for any eight-week courses.

  • Walk-ins are welcome Sept.–June for adult students elementary ballet and above. Please note that the walk-in rate is not available for Beginner Ballet due to the pace of the 8-week course. Walk-in tuition is $17 per class. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of class to check in.

  • Register for the whole year! Academic-year classes run 35 weeks, SeptemberJune. Summer classes run 8 weeks, JuneAugust.

Summer Ballet

Try something new this summer! In summer 2017, we are offering an 8-week session of Beginner Ballet and Intermediate Ballet.

Beginner Ballet

This 8-week course is designed for the absolute beginner adult who has a desire to begin ballet lessons but needs the basics. Beginner Ballet focuses on ballet vocabulary with extra emphasis on posture, coordination, and memorization. No prior ballet training is necessary. Including basic positions, barre-work, and theories, our 8-week Beginner Ballet course will ready anyone for ongoing study.

Intermediate Ballet

This 8-week course is designed for the advancing student who would like to improve beyond the fundamentals of ballet. Students will gain increased turnout and flexibility and begin to learn the more complicated steps and patterns of ballet. Some prior training in ballet is beneficial.

Beginner Ballet

All adult Beginner Ballet classes are held Mondays from 7:30–8:30 p.m. Tuition for the full eight weeks is $83.20. *No class on 12/26/16, 2/20/17, 1/2/17, and 4/10/17

This 8-week course is designed for the absolute beginner adult who has a desire to begin ballet lessons but needs the basics. Beginner Ballet focuses on ballet vocabulary with extra emphasis on posture, coordination, and memorization. No prior ballet training is necessary. Including basic positions, barre-work, and theories, our 8-week Beginner Ballet course will ready anyone for ongoing study. 

After completing the 8 weeks, you may choose to repeat the course, or move up to the Continuing Beginner class.

Continuing Beginner Ballet

All adult Continuing Beginner Ballet classes are held Wednesdays from 7:30–8:30 p.m. Tuition for the full eight weeks is $83.20. **No class on 11/23/16, 12/21/16, 12/28/16, 2/22/17, 4/12/17

In Continuing Beginner Ballet, you will further develop the skills you learned in Beginner Ballet. At the end of this 8-week course, you will be eligible to move into our elementary/intermediate Ballet class. The elementary/intermediate class runs September through June, but is prorated to allow participants to join at any time. Summer classes are also available.
