Hip Hop

Children's Hip Hop students at The Hartt School Community Division

Hip Hop classes focus on elements of street-based freestyle movements. Skills are taught with an emphasis on a loose and grounded posture and include culturally historical movements such as isolating, popping, locking, breaking, waving, and gliding. Studio-based hip hop classes have evolved to incorporate the jazz-based technical instruction necessary to perform commercial hip hop and include exercises aimed at achieving flexibility, strength, musicality, coordination and endurance.

Spring performance opportunities will be announced in 2017. Students who register after February 13, 2017 will not be guaranteed the opportunity to participate in the year-end performance. Participation is at the sole discretion of the faculty. Tuition rates listed below include a $32.50 spring performance costume fee.
