The University of Hartford will welcome more than 1,600 new students (1,400 freshmen and 200 transfers) to campus as the annual “Move-in Weekend” begins on Friday, August 31 and continues throughout the weekend. New students and their families will begin by checking in at the University’s Gengras Student Union and then head to the residence halls to settle in.
The University’s Class of 2016 was selected from the largest applicant pool (about 15,760 applications) in University history, of which about 65 percent were accepted. The Class of 2016 comes to the University from 35 states, including Alaska, Oregon, California, and Nevada, although the majority are from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts. About 110 members of the Class of 2016 come from 26 countries, including a dozen students from China, with others coming from such locales as Brazil, Germany, Denmark, and Vietnam.
First-Year students arrive on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Upperclassmen are currently scheduled to return to campus on Monday, Sept. 3.
Classes for all students will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
