Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 23, The Hartt School's trio-in-residence, the Lion's Gate Trio, will present five nights of performances of some of Austrian composer Franz Schubert's best chamber music for strings, winds, and voice. Concerts will begin each night at 7:30 p.m. in Millard Auditorium. Kevin Huhn (bass) and Kristen Powell (bassoon) will be featured performers. Huhn describes what this opportunity means to him:

Katie Lansdale, an assistant professor of violin and a member of the Lions Gate Trio, says the the opportunity is challenging and rewarding for the students.

"They hit the ground running," Lansdale explains. "They have very few rehearsals. One type of teaching that I think in some ways is the most powerful is to just take out your instruments and play together."

Tickets are $10 each, and $35 for all five concerts. Admission is FREE for University of Hartford students, faculty, staff, and alumni. To purchase tickets, visit www.hartford.edu/tickets or call the Box Office at 860.768.4228.

The festival also features performances by many Hartt faculty. For more information on these performers and the featured music, visit http://bit.ly/HarttSchubert.
