Art Specialist Vivian Pfeiffer ’85, M’86 to Deliver 2019 Veru Symposium Lecture
In its silver anniversary year, the Barney School of Business’s Theodore D. Veru Symposium brings Vivian Pfeiffer BBA’85, MBA’86 to campus to deliver the 2019 lecture on April 24. A highly recognized specialist in Contemporary and Latin American art, Pfeiffer has been deputy chairman and head of business development at Phillips, a leading global platform for buying and selling 20th and 21st century art and design, since 2017. Prior to joining Phillips, she spent 25 years at Christie’s, the world’s leading art business, where she held a variety of positions, including director of private sales and specialist of the Latin American Art department in New York. In addition to English, Pfeiffer speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian. She is heavily involved in the arts community in Florida and New York.
For a quarter century, the Veru Symposium has brought world-renowned business and public leaders to campus to provide students, faculty, staff, and the public access to esteemed thought leaders. The Veru Symposium was created by University of Hartford Barney School of Business alumnus Peter Veru '85 in commemoration of his father, Theodore Veru.
The Veru Symposium director is Barney School Associate Professor of Marketing Charles R. Canedy III, who will retire at this end of this school year after more than 40 years. In his years as Veru Symposium director, Canedy brought marketers, economists, analysts, and investors to campus to share their knowledge and expertise. Canedy’s devotion to Barney students and to the Veru Symposium will be recognized during the symposium event.
The 2019 Veru Symposium takes place on Wednesday, April 24, in Wilde Auditorium, located in the Harry Jack Gray Center on the University of Hartford campus, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, Connecticut. Pfeiffer’s lecture will take place at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a dinner at 6:45 p.m. in the 1877 Club.
The event is free and open to the public; however, online registration is encouraged by April 19.
