SGA President

James Brino '20

James Brino is a rising Senior, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Acoustics, and is from Southington, Connecticut. Previous to his role as President of the Student Government Association, he served as A-Complex Senator during the 2016-2017 school year, the Executive Assistant to the SGA President during the 2017-2018 school year, and most previously, served as a Student Regents during the 2018-2019 year.

Aside from Student Government, James is also involved with the CETA Ambassadors and Leadership Society, The University of Hartford Knights of Columbus Council 16858, where he served as the Grand Knight for two years, and part of the University Pep Band, playing Baritone Horn. James is a self-proclaimed Connecticut Tourism Ambassador, and loves to give you “Your Things to do in Connecticut this Weekend”.

James is passionate about student opinions and feedback, and how we can make the University of Hartford a better and more welcoming place for everyone. Some causes and projects James is most passionate about and will be working this year on:

  1. Addressing and working on recycling efforts on campus.

  2. Pushing for increased funding of Counseling and Physiological Services (CAPS) and more mental health awareness education.

  3. Pushing for new and upgraded equipment at the Gym.

  4. Urging for more residential life improvements.

  5. Looking to increase club budgets and elevate our club sports teams.

  6. Sending more students to regional and national conferences.
