The Sigma Kappa Foundation was made to raise money to fund leadership, scholarship and philanthropic initiatives that reflect the values of Sigma Kappa.
What do we do to contribute to it?
All of the proceeds from our UltraViolet talent show go to the Sigma Kappa Foundation.
This organization focuses on improving local environments. We have not had an event for this philanthropy, but every year we participate in Hawks Helping Hartford. Many of our sisters go to different locations in our area and help clean up. We are looking into planning a recycling event.
Sigma Kappa members help provide service and companionship to the elderly in our local areas. Our main philanthropy is Alzheimer’s. It is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S, and Sigma Kappa is one of the nations leading contributors to Alzheimer’s disease prevention, research and treatment efforts.
Sigma Kappa was founded in Maine, and we help fund the Maine Sea Coast Mission’s Christmas program, emergency relief program and scholarships. The Christmas program gives gifts to needy families during the holidays. The emergency relief program helps with food, clothing, shelter and medical needs. The scholarship program is for students who may not have enough money to pursue other educational opportunities.
