Congratulations to All A&S First-Year Seminar Symposium Winners
Students in the College of Arts and Sciences presented the results of their First-Year Seminar (FYS) projects at the Annual FYS Symposium held at the end of the fall semester.
All first-year A&S students are required to take the FYS course to help develop and enhance writing, speaking, teamwork, problem solving, and research skills. Students select an FYS course that is of the most interest to them from a list of diverse topics, led by engaged faculty members.
Members of the A&S Advisory Board, faculty, and students (for the audience choice award), judged the presentations and chose the following winners:
Best Demonstration of Critical Thinking – Art and Obscenity with Nels Highberg
Most Creative – Race, Class, and Gender in Reality TV with Amanda Freeman
Best Interdisciplinary Project – Why Smart People Make Bad Choices with Caryn Christensen
Most Professional Presentation – The Matter of Black Lives with Bryan Sinche
Audience Choice Award – College Crime with Kelly McGeever
