Connecticut Expands Harassment Training Obligations for Employers

Changes to The State of Connecticut law on Sexual Harassment training has mandated that the University provide all existing employees with sexual harassment training. 

Here are three things you should know:

1. If you attended a sexual harassment training prior to October 1, 2019, you will need to be retrained.
2. You will be receiving an email from empower@hartford.edu instructing you to participate in an online training program through a provided link.  This email is not SPAM, and you are responsible for completion of the training.
3. You are required to complete this online course by February 11, 2020. 

Here’s how to get started:

1. Go to the online training link here.
2. Provide your full name and University of Hartford email address, and click “register”.
3. You will receive an email from CHRO enclosing the online training.  Click “view training”. 
4. Click the “Materials” tab. 
5. Watch the videos, titled “Section 1” thru “Section 6”, complete all required quizzes.
6. Within 24 -72 hours you will receive a Certificate of Completion.
7. In order to receive credit for the online training, you must forward the Certificate of Completion to EmPOWER at empower@hartford.edu.         

After your Certificate of Completion is received, you will be scheduled to attend a live one-hour interactive training with the Interim Title IX Coordinator, Lynn Ernest Roberts.
