#UHartInspires: UHart Students Donate to Foodshare as They Move-Out

Two bins of nonperishable food ready for pickup by Foodshare

Students who returned to campus March 28-31 to move out of residence halls filled two bins with nonperishable food that they no longer needed. Foodshare, the regional food bank for Hartford and Tolland counties, picked up the donated food on April 13.

A limited number of students returned on staggered schedules that followed CDC guidelines on social distancing, minimal numbers of people, and hygiene protocols. More students will be allowed to pick up their belongings later this spring or summer.

Foodshare is grateful for the students’ generosity because food insecurity is growing as more people lose their jobs during the coronavirus outbreak.

Thank you UHart students, reslife staff, and facilities for thinking of others and making this donation possible.

"UHartInspires" was formerly called "Hawks Helping.”  It remains an opportunity for University faculty, staff, and students to share how they are taking care of themselves and their families or helping and supporting others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
