Lynn Galvin, director of collegiate budget and administration for the College of Arts and Sciences, is retiring after 30 years of employment at the University.

“Lynn Galvin has been the budgetary backbone of the College of Arts and Sciences for many years now,” says A&S Dean Katherine Black. “She is meticulous in her work, and has been an outstanding steward of the college’s resources. We have all looked to Lynn for guidance about a university policy or procedure, and she always knows the answer! I have enjoyed working with her tremendously, and I will miss her dearly. On a personal level, I have routinely witnessed Lynn putting others before herself.  I hope in her retirement, she will have occasion to put herself first. She deserves all of life’s rewards.”

Galvin joined the University as a secretary in the Engineering Applications Center in May 1990 and later joined the then Nursing Department in 1995. She noted one of the highlights of that position was housing one of the department’s Fulbright Scholars. From there, Galvin worked as an office coordinator for the mathematics, physics, and computer science departments.

She eventually became the assistant to the A&S Dean in 2004. Galvin held the executive assistant title before being named to her current position in the Dean’s office, where she says she’s been privileged to get to know members of the A&S Board of Advisors.

Galvin has been a member and officer of the Staff Council and served on the Budget Advisory Team and the Benefits Task Force for many years. She helped run the University’s United Way Campaign for many years and participated in the RISE Student Mentoring Program.
