Respondus LockDown Browser & Chromebooks

Submitted By: Respondus Support Team

The University of Hartford is proud to announce that the Respondus system for monitoring Blackboard tests is now compatible with Chromebooks. This feature is technically in beta (final testing phase by the company), but we are happy with our test results on campus. Students with Chromebooks will no longer be required to find an alternate device to take tests or quizzes.

This news could not come at a better time as we prepare to move entirely online for the remainder of the semester, after Thanksgiving. The allowing of Chromebook access needs to be turned on for each test (under Advanced Settings) when the instructor sets up the test for Respondus in Blackboard.

Students will need to download the LockDown Browser Extension for Chrome to access the tests. The download is available at the same link as the Windows and Mac versions of LockDown Browser. When a Chromebook user goes to the link, the Google Play Store will open to download the extension.

The Instructor and Student QuickStart Guides have been updated to reflect this new feature.

If you are interested in learning more about the system, you can visit the campus Respondus Support page at the attached address. There you will find documentation on how to use the system as well as resources that you will need to share with your students. Please note that FCLD is not currently supporting this system.

Make sure to become a member of the group to stay up to date on the news and documentation of Respondus at the University of Hartford. Also, some resources are only available to members, like the webinar calendar.

You can always email the Respondus Support Team at respondus@hartford.edu at any time.
