COVID-19 Testing Update for Residential Students
As part of our ongoing efforts to protect the campus community, the University will continue to test all residential students at least once a week on an ongoing basis. Beginning in March, some students will be tested more than once a week as part of our random surveillance testing strategy.
Weekly Rapid Tests
The time slot that you already have for weekly testing will continue to be your regular time slot. If you need to make a permanent change to your weekly testing time slot, please email covidtest@hartford.edu. Remember, these tests are mandatory.
Random PCR Tests
On Mondays, starting March 1, randomly selected residential students will receive PCR tests as a supplement to the weekly rapid tests. Please note that when you are selected for the additional PCR test, you will be tested twice that week: once on Monday and once during your regular time slot on either Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
If you are selected for a mandatory PCR test, you will be notified by email on Thursday and asked to sign up for an appointment for that coming Monday in Konover. Results from our on-campus PCR tests usually come back in two or three business days. We are hopeful that this increase in testing will help us better identify—and control—potential COVID-19 clusters.
