Oct. is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). NDEAM is held yearly to commemorate the many contributions of people with disabilities to America’s workplaces and economy.

The theme for NDEAM 2021, “America’s Recovery: Powered by Inclusion,” reflects the importance of ensuring that people with disabilities have full access to employment and community involvement during the national recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The University of Hartford is celebrating NDEAM with a series of UNotes posts recognizing the importance of disability inclusion and acceptance. Each week will focus on a specific area including Disability Inclusion, Universal Design, Disability & Employment, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

This Awareness Month is sponsored by the UHart Disabilities Affinity Network. This Affinity Network is open to any UHart employee. For questions about the Disabilities Affinity Network please contact co-chairs Ben Ide bide@hartford.edu or Dave Stender stender@hartford.edu.
