Media and Communication Clubs and Opportunities for Students

October 05, 2021
Submitted By: Jack Banks

Students are invited to get involved in our student clubs related to communication, news, media, and culture. These clubs are open to all students at the University and are a great way for our students’ voices to be heard at the University and beyond.

Here’s the contact information:

  • STN, the student group that produces a live TV news show each week:  Aidan Graham, STN General Manager and Senior Producer is at agraham@stn2.tv.  Students can also complete this form that sends a message to the entire STN Board and lets them know what their interests are.
  • The Informer, UH’s student newspaper: Jennah Hazme, Editor in Chief, is at hamze@hartford.edu
  • PRSSA, Public Relations Student Society of America chapter: Brendon Brown, President, is at brebrown@hartford.edu
  • Aerie Literary Journal: The journal is looking for creative nonfiction, fiction, and poetry and art.  . For more detailed submission guidelines, go to bit.ly/uhartaerie or email us at aerie.other.submit@gmail.com.

Other Opportunities:

These are other opportunities that are also available to all students at the University:

  • Student agency: The School has launched a new student-run agency Crested Communications producing professional content for real world clients. Contact Director Sarah Miner at miner@hartford.edu for information about getting involved in that firm.
  • Podcast studio: We have a new podcast studio available for use by students for class assignments.  Contact Dawn Ennis at daennis@hartford.edu.
  • WWUH:  Students can get involved in various roles at UH’s public radio station WWUH, including on air shows. Contact Abe Hefter at hefter@hartford.edu.

Students are free to contact Jack Banks, Director of the School of Communication, with any questions or further information at jbanks@hartford.edu.
