Week Three: Disabilities Acceptance Month

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). The University of Hartford Disabilities Affinity Network celebrates NDEAM this week focusing on the topic of employment resources.

Working in conjunction with Human Resources Development we remind the campus community that the University follows an established process for disability accommodations, including engaging in the interactive process with faculty and staff with disabilities to determine whether they require reasonable accommodations to perform the essential functions of their job.

If faculty or staff have a medical condition that could reasonably affect their ability to safely perform their duties on campus, they must request a reasonable accommodation through Human Resources Development and go through the interactive process. Based on the information obtained through that process, a determination will be made as to whether the employee qualifies for a reasonable accommodation.
