The Hillyer College Honors Experience will feature Dr. Markeysha Davis' "'My Eyes Speak History:' Black Womanist Perspectives on Race, Gender, and Social Change" as the Humanities Honors Seminar in Spring 2022 (CRN 13974, TuTh 11:20 a.m.).

This course places Black cis- and transwomen within the context of freedom struggles in the American experience, from the nascent years of the Civil Rights and Women’s Liberation movements to the Stonewall Rebellion and Black Lives Matter. Students will learn the perspectives of Black women through their writing and other creative work that centers their critical thought, their work, and their struggles in fighting for social change and equity.

Hillyer College students who are interested in this course should attend an Information Session to learn more about it and the Honors Experience. Information sessions are scheduled:

  • Monday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. (remotely; Zoom link provided to those who register)

or

  • Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 12:45 p.m. in H266.
