NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium Fall Grants Expo was held on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at New England Air Museum, Windsor Locks, Connecticut

NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium (CTSGC) is a state-wide higher education grant, internship, and scholarship program that is funded as a part of NASA Education. NASA CTSGC is headquartered at the University of Hartford. Each Academic Affiliate institution has a Campus Director. Currently there are 22 affiliated institutes statewide. This year’s Fall grants include undergraduate research grant, graduate fellowship grant, student project grant, community college transfer scholarship, undergraduate scholarship grant, student travel grant, and faculty STEM education research grant. 

NASA Space Grant Consortium Fall Grants Expo 2021 hosted over 70 in-person attendees including NASA CTSGC campus directors, student awardees, faculty awardees, faculty and staff supporters, and their guests. Dr. Cater Arico, Director of CTSGC moderated panel discussion on High Altitude Ballooning, a NASA program in preparation of 2023, and 2024 solar eclipses. The panel was formed by 2017 Total Solar Eclipse High Altitude Ballooning team members and student representative from NASA Undergraduate Student Instrumentation Project (USIP). The team leader, former CTSGC director, CETA Dean, Dr. Hisham Alnajjar discussed the significance of this program and NASA CTSGC grant for STEM students.  Awardees presented their research projects with poster presentations. Poster “Yale Space Station” by Yale University received Expo Audience Award and “NASA Connecticut Space Grant Consortium Quadcopter Challenge Redesign” by Quinebaug Valley Community College and Central Connecticut State University received Expo Director’s Best Presentation Award at this expo.
