Tadeusz “Ted” Podolski, a friendly face in the University of Hartford's mailroom over the last decade, died on Thursday, Nov. 4.

A former letter carrier in West Hartford, Ted most recently served as operations coordinator for Mail Services at UHart. He was honored with an Outstanding Staff Member Award at the January 2021 Faculty-Staff Kickoff and retired this past summer.

Ted literally touched just about every department in his 10 years on campus. He was known by many and was a constant friendly presence in the mailroom. When the University shut down most on-campus operations in March 2020 due to the pandemic, Ted was the lone staff member in Mail Services. With the majority of offices working remotely, he had to sort mail and packages for each department, and store them, to deliver after reopening. Ted also supported several hundred international students still living on campus at the time. His dedication and support was appreciated by the entire UHart community.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, located at 34 Beaver Road in Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ted’s honor can be made to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation.
