Submitted By: Mary Ingarra

Professor of Psychology Mala Matacin is one of eight speakers at TEDxHartford this Sunday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. at the Hartford Marriott. Matacin, who is passionate about language, gender issues, and how we use labels, will discuss shifting language of gender identity and pronoun use. UHart’s student a cappella group, L’Shir A Cappella, is also scheduled to perform at the event, which is being held in person and virtually.

TEDxHartford, now in its fifth year, was founded by UHart alumni Laura Dinan Haber ‘07 (Barney) and Lee Simmons ‘06 (A&S) to bring together diverse speakers to share their ideas and experiences. This year’s theme is Awakening to share what we've learned about ourselves and the world we live in as we rise from the pandemic.
