Jeffrey "Jeff" Parker, a UHart staff member for more than two decades, died on Jan. 14 with his wife, best friend, and golf partner, Deborah, at his side.

Jeff began his work at the University in June 1992 and served as a production control analyst in ITS until his retirement in June 2015.

Working in the ITS Data Center, Jeff's friendly face greeted faculty members any time there was a bubble sheet test to score or an evaluation to scan. "Jeff's work gave him the opportunity to converse with people from all areas of the University, and he wouldn't have had it any other way," says Minh Nguyen, ITS application services project manager.

"He once tutored me how to use the system, giving me an opportunity to learn from him," remembers Zhihong Di, senior technical support specialist in ITS. "He was a super-nice, gentle man; his kindness, smile, and friendship will be greatly missed."

In lieu of flowers, Jeff may be remembered with contributions to the National Kidney Foundation at http://www.kidney.org.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St., in Plainville, Conn. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
