Faculty Senate Announces Senate Officers 2022-2023

Faculty Senate Chair:

Dr. Saeid Moslehpour is the newly elected Faculty Senate Chair. Currently, he is the Program Director of Graduate Studies within the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA). In the capacity of Department Chair, he has overseen seven separate and distinct programs, three in engineering and four in engineering technology, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Saeid previously served as Faculty Senate Chair from 2011-2013 and Faculty Senate Secretary 2020-2021.

Faculty Senate Vice Chair:

Dr. Natalie N. Politikos has served as the Faculty Senate Vice Chair since 2020. She is a professor in the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. Within the College of Arts & Sciences, Natalie directs the graduate program in School Psychology. She has served as president of Trainers of School Psychologists and is currently serving as chair of the Program Accreditation Board for the National Association of School Psychologists

Faculty Senate Secretary:

Dr. Mari Firkatian has been Chair of Environmental Sustainability Committee since 2019. She has headed the President’s Taskforce to Establish a Director of Sustainability on campus as well as being a member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. Mari is a Professor of History and teaches for Hillyer College, the College of Arts and Sciences, and UIS. She has served on various university committees over the course of 21 years at the university.
