Scott E. Page to speak on "The Power of Diversity"
The van Rooy Center for Complexity and Conflict Analysis is pleased to announce that Scott E. Page has accepted its invitation to speak to the campus on “The Power of Diversity”. Scott Page will discuss how diversity enhances collective decision-making and contributes to improved performance in organizations. The program is co-sponsored by the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement.
The program is being offered in a hybrid format via Zoom and in-person in Wilde Auditorium on Monday, Oct. 24, 12:45 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Scott Page is the John Seely Brown Distinguished University Professor of Complexity, Social Science, and Management, the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and External Faculty, Santa Fe Institute. His research focuses on the function of diversity in complex social systems, the potential for collective intelligence, and the design of institutions for a complex world. A much sought-after speaker, a sampling of the institutions at which he has presented include Boeing, Google, the IMF, NASA, Bloomberg, and the CIA. Dr. Page has been a featured speaker at the New York Times New Work Summit, Google Re: Work, The World Economic Forum – Davos, and The Aspen Ideas Festival.
Scott Page holds a BA in mathematics from The University of Michigan, and MA from The University of Wisconsin, and an MS and PhD in managerial economics and decision sciences from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. He is the author of Diversity and Complexity and The Difference: How the Power of Diversity Creates Better Groups, Firms, Schools and Societies.
