Hartt Faculty Authors Review for Italian Newspaper

Hartt composition faculty and guitarist, Thomas Schuttenhelm, wrote a review for La Nuova Sardegna on Italian guitarist Cristiano Porqueddu's Carnegie Hall recital on Oct. 7, 2022. The recital was an homage to the Italian guitar composer Angelo Gilardino who passed away earlier this year.

Porqueddu was closely associated with Gilardino and recorded many of his compositions. Schuttenehlm first met Gilardino in 2009 when he was awarded the Artistic Achievement Award by the Guitar Foundation of America. He and Gilardino kept up a correspondence and Schuttenhelm even visited Gilardino at his home in Verchelli Italy. Porqueddu's recital featured Gilardino's Sardegna, which was dedicated to the performer. He also performed music by Kevin Swierkosz-Lenart, Roberto Piana, and some original compositions.
