Submitted By: Staff Council EBoard

Please join us at the next Staff Council Meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m.! Our guest will be President Greg Woodward, and Community Reps will vote on a statement in response to SGA’s recent resolution calling for mandatory DEIJB training. See details below:

Register for Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m., meeting here.

Staff Council Statement: Community Reps, be prepared to vote for or against this statement, or for postponement for further discussion.

The University of Hartford Staff Council stands with SGA in their efforts to build an inclusive, equitable, diverse, and safe learning community. We agree that staff must be properly equipped with the knowledge to cultivate such a community, and that this work will require continued support from the university and all our community members. We look forward to further discussion with the SGA and the university to make progress toward achieving our shared goals.

Questions for President Woodward: send your questions for him in advance to staff@hartford.edu or to our anonymous contact form.

The consent agenda and the November general meeting minutes are attached for review.

Staff Council meetings will be recorded and the recordings will be made available afterward.

Reminders:

We look forward to having you join us at the upcoming staff council meeting. Please note, participants are required to register in order to attend (even if it's just before the meeting starts).

Once registered, a confirmation with a calendar invite will be e-mailed. Additional information for the meeting and tips for ensuring the meeting runs smoothly and professionally are found below.

We are also still accepting volunteers for our open positions listed on the consent agenda attached (learn more about the role of community rep under Article 3 of the Staff Council By-Laws). If interested, please contact the Staff Council Executive Board at staff@hartford.edu

Meeting Etiquette

Once you are in the meeting, please be aware of the following technical and meeting professional etiquette issues:

  • Mute Your Microphone
    • You can do this by using the button at the bottom center that looks like a microphone. Otherwise all of your background noises will be heard and sometimes echoes occur.
  • If your sound is not working for any reason, don’t panic.
    • Please just click on the navigation button (icon with three lines) in the upper left-hand corner.
    • You will then see a pull-down menu.
    • Click on “Use your phone for audio” on that menu.
  • Using the Chat Function
    • If you want to speak, please use the chat function and type your question in. The chat function is also available for simpler questions or comments that you can share throughout the meeting. (There is no need to raise your hand to use the chat function).
    • Lisa Read, Chair, will moderate the session/chat and acknowledge you so that you can speak as we would do in a normal meeting
