Critical Year and Faculty Promotion Workshop Series

All full-time faculty are invited to attend the Critical Year and Faculty Promotion Workshop Series, regardless of their critical year or intent to apply for promotion. The Spring 2023 series will, however, be particularly focused on those full-time faculty who will submit their materials for promotion, tenure, or comprehensive review in Fall 2023, including Associate Professors who expect to apply for promotion to Full Professor in Fall 2023.  

Eight Friday workshops (via Zoom) in the Spring Semester will cover all you need to know about the process, the forms, and the procedures, and T. will provide useful advice and guidance for the preparation of your dossier. Small dossier-writing support groups will be organized for those who are interested. Special guests—those who have recently been through the process, College PTRAF committee members, and others—will also attend to provide insights and assistance. You may choose to attend all of the sessions or only those that are most pertinent to your case. Anyone interested should attend the first session on Friday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. – noon. All future sessions will be held from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Zoom links for all meetings will be shared with those who RSVP to stores@hartford.edu or annbrown@hartford.edu. Those sessions marked “ALL” in the list below will provide information relevant to both tenured/tenure-track faculty and clinical/applied faculty.

  • Friday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: General Overview of the PTR process, forms, dates, and procedures (ALL) 
  • Friday, Feb. 3, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: External Reviewers and materials for them; Faculty Data Sheet, Sharepoint (ALL)
  • Friday, Feb. 10, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Focus on the application for promotion to full professor.
  • Friday, Feb. 17, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Faculty Data Sheet Teaching Section (ALL)
  • Friday, Feb. 24, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Faculty Data Sheet Scholarship Section (for Tenured/Tenure-Track and C/AT with contractual scholarship expectations)
  • Friday, March 3, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Faculty Data Sheet Professional Productivity Section (for Clinical/Applied faculty)
  • Friday, March 24, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Faculty Data Sheet Service Section
  • Friday, March 31, 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.: Evidence folders and connecting evidence to the FDS narratives/final thoughts (ALL)
