DEIJB Pulse Survey

January 25, 2023
Submitted By: Christine Grant, Assistant Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement

The DEIJB Faculty and Staff Pulse Survey Committee are ready to launch the survey the week of Jan. 30, and it will remain open to all staff and faculty through mid-March. The committee extends its gratitude to the individuals who participated in the fall pilot who offered important insights, as we were fortunate to receive feedback prior to the official rollout.

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement developed the survey questions over the past spring and summer semesters in consultation with subject matter experts from the campus community. The DEIJB survey is designed to capture all voices and experiences regarding inclusion and belonging as we continue to work toward improving our campus climate. This survey is one tool we are using to demonstrate that we value the many different perspectives of our community members.

Transparency is a core value of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Community Engagement, and therefore we will share aggregated results from the survey with the University community. Preliminary reporting will be shared in May with more robust reporting to follow. Moreover, the findings will be used as an accountability measure for goal three of the Strategic Action Plan: to promote a vibrant, diverse, inclusive, and socially just UHart community. Additionally, the data will inform our continued efforts to create a campus climate where everyone feels welcome, supported, and valued and how we will move forward with our long-term strategy.

We would like to acknowledge the DEIJB Faculty and Staff Pulse Survey Committee Members:

  • Katherine Black, Interim Provost
  • Chavon Campbell, Adjunct Professor of Management, Barney School of Business
