Support the Hawks in the Tournament This Weekend!

The University of Hartford women will begin their quest for the America East basketball championship tonight (Friday, March 4) at Chase Arena, and the Hartford men will begin tournament play on Saturday night.  Both games will tip off at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Players, coaches, and fans from throughout the Northeast are converging on the University of Hartford campus, as the University hosts the 2011 America East Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship presented by Newman’s Own.  The tournament began Thursday with first round games and will continue through Sunday.  All games take place at Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion.

The fourth-seeded Hartford women will take on No. 5 Albany tonight (Friday) at approximately 8:15 p.m., and the sixth-seeded Hartford men will play No. 3 Maine on Saturday, also at about 8:15 p.m.

Individual session tickets (which include admission to two games) are $25 for chairback seats, $15 for bleachers, and $75 for VIP seating, which includes food and beverages. University of Hartford students (with current ID) can attend all games in which the Hartford Hawks play FREE of charge, courtesy of President Walter Harrison and Vice President for Student Affairs Lee Peters.

If the Hartford women and/or men win their quarterfinal games, they will advance to play in the semifinals on Sunday (March 6). The Hartford women's semifinal game would take place at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, and the Hartford men's semifinal would take place at about 7:30 p.m.

The men’s and women’s title games will take place on Saturday, March 12, on the campuses of the highest remaining seeds.  The winners of the America East men's and women's championships will receive automatic bids to the NCAA tournament.

All games in which the Hartford women play will be broadcast live on WWUH radio (91.3 FM or www.wwuh.org), and all games in which the Hartford men play will be broadcast on WDRC radio (1360 AM).  You can also follow the games through live stats and live streaming video at www.hartfordhawks.com or www.americaeast.com.
