Event, TV/Radio Info for Sunday's Game
The Hartford Hawks will make their sixth appearance in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament when they take on the top-ranked UConn Huskies on Sunday, March 20, at 12:05 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn.
Tickets for the game are available through www.Ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-877-AT-UConn. If you would like to sit in the “Hartford” section, you should buy tickets that are in or near Sections 202-203 of Gampel Pavilion. And be sure to wear red at the game!
TV/Radio
If you can’t make it to Storrs on Sunday, you can watch the game on ESPN2 in its entirety in Connecticut (standard-definition only). If you are tuned to your ESPN2HD channel, you will be watching the national telecast that will allow the viewer to see the most compelling action from multiple games. If you wish to watch the Hartford-UConn game without interruption, you must tune to your cable system's standard-definition ESPN2 channel or to your satellite provider's alternate channel assignment for the Hartford-UConn game (DTV 730, FullCourt 730, Dish Channel 145, Dish FullCourt 456, AT&T 606, AT&T FullCourt 4501). Those not in Connecticut will see ESPN2's rotating national coverage and should note that the Hartford-UConn game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
The game will also be broadcast on WWUH radio (91.3 FM or www.wwuh.org).
Pre-Game Sendoff and Post-Game Celebration
There will be a public sendoff for the Hawks on Sunday morning at the Hartford/Windsor Marriott (28 Day Hill Road, Windsor). The team is scheduled to leave for Storrs at 10 a.m. – come to the hotel at about 9:30 a.m. to give them a great send-off!
In addition, all Hawks fans are invited to a celebration in honor of the 2010-11 women’s basketball team after Sunday’s game, starting at about 3 p.m. at the Hartford/Windsor Marriott.
2011 America East Champions
The Hawks earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament by winning their fifth America East Championship on March 12, with a 65-53 victory over Boston University.
This will be Hartford’s sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament during Jennifer Rizzotti’s 12 seasons as head coach. Five of the NCAA Tournament appearances were the result of conference championships; in addition, the Hawks received an at-large bid in 2010. The Hawks hold a 2-5 overall record in NCAA Tournament play, having beaten Temple in a first-round game in 2006 and Syracuse in the first round in 2008.
